Importing Activities from Google Calendar

You can automatically import activities from Google Calendar into whereyougonnabe. You can also sync with other calendar software including Outlook and Mac iCal.

Setting up calendar integration

To set up calendar integration, you first have to go to your Google Calendar and copy the address for its private iCal feed. You find this by clicking on "Settings" at the top right, then select the "Calendars" tab, and then click on the name of the calendar you want to sync with. At the bottom of the screen where it says "Private Address", right click on the ICAL button and select "Copy Link".

Now go to whereyougonnabe, choose "Settings" at the top right, and choose the "Other Systems" tab. Right click in the Google Calendar field and select "Paste", then click on "Validate". When you are done changing settings, choose "Save".

Creating activities in Google Calendar for whereyougonnabe

There are two things you need to do for an activity to be imported from Google Calendar into whereyougonnabe:

  1. Include the text "wygb" (without quotes) somewhere in the description or the title
  2. Include a location in the "Where" field. We search based on information that we already know about where you will be at that time. So in the following example, the system assumes I am at home in Denver and will find Union Station in Denver. If I had already created an activity saying that I would be in Washington, DC, that day, it would find Union Station in Washington, DC.

After you've associated your Google Calendar iCal feed with your whereyougonnabe account, we'll start syncing up activities from the feed once every evening and every time you use whereyougonnabe.
